This makes sense. While watching a vid, posted esrlier this year, and taken during an SES training conference, I noticed that nearly everyone participating looked especially schmucky.
It reminded me of something that the guy who hired me for a position with a War on Poverty holdover Housing NGO. He said to me shortly aftet I started, “Yeah, we hire people who are desperate for a job and pay ’em crummy.” At the time, I was an overqualified new Ph.D. I started at $27K, $9K less than a post-doc I had just finished up. The stiry ends well, though, and I retired after 18 years, and actually accomplished quite a bit, helping to move Fed Drinking Water and Waste Water infrastructure loan and grant funds to many deserving communities.
